I think I've talked about this before, but I really do love this thing. Just having it around and knowing how easy it is to use encourages me to eat better. Instead of going for leftover turkey and dressing, I made my trusty protein shake with banana, almond milk and flax seed oil. It's also got me drinking my "moss drink" with protein as a night time snack more often.
I really want to become a "clean" eater.
Have you thought about going Paleo?
ReplyDeleteWhat is Paleo?
ReplyDeleteLooks handy! How well does it blend frozen fruit?
ReplyDeleteThen you ate much better than me today. I need to get myself one of those.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm just doing the "grandmother diet" and eating more fruits and vegetables...basically not eating anything your grandmother wouldn't had access to, which basically amounts to cutting out highly processed foods, fast foods, most stuff in the isles of grocery stores, etc.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about the Gracie diet...heard good stuff about that and Paleo. In a nutshell, paleo is a caveman-diet based on foods that can be hunted/gathered. Here's a link...

I just want something sustainable since I don't do "diets", but I will change my eating habits.
The blender...my little buddy...it does frozen bananas and strawberries fine. I've never done ice, but they say it can handle that too. It's a great little blender, especially with the travel lid. I'm thinking about getting a base for work too if they sell them individually.
Mostly Paleo is about eating how we are designed to from 1 million years of evolution.
ReplyDelete3 good books to look into for more info are:
1. "The Paleo Diet for Athletes" by Loren Cordian, Ph.D. and Joe Friel, MS. (expands on an earler work "The Paleo Diet")
2. "The Wellness Project - A Rocket Scientist's Blueprint for health - Designed by Nature Researched by a Rocket Scientist" by Roy Mankovitz, BS, JD, CNC.
3. "The Primal Blueprint" by Mark Sisson. He also wrote an awsome cook book with Jennifer Meier called "The Primal Blueprint Cookbook"
Mark Sisson has a good website called Mark's daily Apple. At http://www.marksdailyapple.com/
Just some FYI for anyone interested and I'll step off my soap box now.
:-)
Hey cool! I was going to answer AD's question re Paleo, but everyone jumped in. Megan, if you ever decide to buy a juicer, I can recommend the "Champ" brand. It's a workhouse. Runs a little more expensive than others, but well worth the money.
ReplyDeleteI have a similar little "bullet" single-serving style blender and it makes awesome smoothies. My favorite (currently) is a frozen ripe banana, some frozen berries (blue, black, rasp, straw) a couple spoonsful of nonfat vanilla yogurt, a scoop of acai powder, a scoop of flaxseed meal, and either orange or grape juice... mmm! Healthy!
ReplyDeleteNow as for the Gracie diet-- I'll spout anathema here and point out that some of the stuff in it (don't mix certain fruits for example) is pure hoohah that no reputable nutritionist or physician would confirm. But whatever-- if you're generally eating more fruits and veggies and less processed sugar and fat, you're probably on the right track. What do I know anyway :)
