I guess the question is, which one? Maybe? No? Honestly, probably not, but I just heard about this story of Randy Couture's trainer, Neil Melanson, who, instead of facing a year off training, had his problem toe amputated.
I'd choose common sense and go to the doctor before the toe was that messed up. But if jiu jitsu and mma were my livelihood and not my hobby, I'd probably be willing to lose one as long as it wasn't the big toe. It sounds like his chances of having a useful and fully healed toe were pretty small even after surgery. I've met several people who had lost ring fingers and it didn't affect them much.
Yeah...it sounds like it was causing pain in everyday life. You would think they could kill the nerves or something, but that would probably be more dangerous now that I think about it.
If it was my livelihood, I would consider it... but even then... I don't know. I am a pretty hardcore shoe girl, and I think sticking a 4 toed foot in any shoe, no matter how cute, would be gross to look at. hehehe =)
